Best solution to terror is to cease practising it
3 June 2007
Editorial blog on David Hicks:
"The war on terror undoubtedly has to be fought with force (in this writer’s view, including in Iraq), but it is equally a war of ideas, values and persuasion."
I too think that the United States should fight a war on terror. However Osama bin Laden killed 3,000 people on 9/11; and since the US invasion, an estimated 655,000 Iraqis have died above the normal mortality. The majority were killed by "US munitions"; and the majority were "women and children".
I suggest that the US would make a good start in the war on terror by ceasing to be the world's leading practitoner of it.
